Exclusive Lens Technology

OrderYourGlasses.com is more than an online eyeglasses store. We design and manufacture eyeglass lens products that incorporate the very latest in material and production technology. We inspect every lens from the start to finish of production and promise to never outsource orders overseas. It has become quite popular for other large online eyeglass stores to route customer orders to overseas labs that use very low quality materials and labor. One way to tell if your order is being made in America is to look for how long it will take to make the glasses. If it's longer than 7 days beware!
Our Conquest line of lenses are a great example of our investment in superior technology and skilled American labor and are available exclusively on this web site.
Conquest lenses are available in single vision, lined bifocal, and no-line bifocal. Each lens type eliminates the distracting effect of distortion and are thinner and stronger than the typical lens. Our index matched Scratch Resistant and UV Coatings can furthur enhance and protect the lenses and your eyes. We stand behind our quality 100%.
Lens Type
Single Vision
Most people will only need “Single-vision” glasses. This simply means there is no need for a bifocal.
Bifocals
There are two basic types of bifocals: “Flat-top,” or “lined” and “Progressive,” or “no-line.
Flat-Top Bifocal
A Flat-top bifocal has an area of “ADDitional” power (lens strength) that many people find necessary for reading or other close-up tasks. It is visibly noticeable on the outside of the lens, whereas a progressive is not.
Progressive Bifocal
The Progressive bifocal makes the change in ADD power progressively, or smoothly. Most people who already wear bifocals know which type they prefer. If this is your first time to wear bifocals, you should talk about this with your doctor. However, it can be easier to begin wearing a “Progressive” bifocal if you have never worn a “Flat-top” bifocal before. The Progressive bifocal is more popular because of it’s appearance.
Lens Material
Standard Plastic
Standard Plastic is recommended for low-to-moderate prescriptions shown on a prescription card as +/- 0.00 to 2.00. Because plastic has the lowest index, 1.49, if your prescription is higher than this or if you prefer thinner lenses - please consider Polycarbonate or “High Index” as a better option. Also, we do not offer Standard Plastic for frames that need to be drilled or grooved, because plastic has a tendency to chip or crack.
Polycarbonate
At 1.59, Polycarbonate has a higher index than plastic. Polycarbonate lenses are the most impact-resistant lenses, and are made from the basic material that "bullet-proof glass" is made from. They are 30% thinner than standard plastic lenses but more impact resistant than thin lenses and are especially recommended for children's eyeglasses and for sporting activities. Standard polycarbonate lenses are usually recommended for prescriptions ranging from 0.00 to +/-4.00. We also recommend them for all drilled-frames. If your prescription is higher than this, please consider our 1.67 Hi-Index lenses.
1.67 High Index
Hi-Index extra thin lenses are 45% thinner than standard plastic lenses at an index of 1.67. These lenses are recommended for prescriptions from +/-2.00 to +/- 6.00 for best results. It has exceptional optics, and works great for both drilled and grooved frames.
Lens Extras
Polarized
For effective protection during outdoors activities, polarized sunglass lenses are the best choice. Dark-tinted lenses may block out the intensity of sunlight, but polarized lenses block out the sun's glare, reducing the strain on your eyes. Especially popular with fishermen, skiers, and other activities where sunlight may reflect off bright surfaces, polarized lenses are available in a wide variety of lens types.
Photochromic
Available in all materials, light-sensitive lenses change from clear to dark in a matter of seconds when going outdoors, and change back to clear, making indoor environments equally comfortable. Lenses that change into sunglasses when exposed to sunlight are a very versatile choice for the modern lifestyle. Please note that they do not get as dark as tinted sunglass lenses.
Tint
Adding color to lenses by tinting can produce the best look for fashion sunglasses. Please note that tinting cannot be combined with Polarized or Photochromic options.
Lens Coatings
Anti-Reflective
Inexpensive A/R coatings tend to scratch off the surface of the lens quickly. Our multi-layered coating is of superior quality and will stay on the lens for the life of your prescription. We guarantee it!
Scratch Coating
Eyeglass lens materials are not inherently scratch-resistant, so it's a good idea to add this coating to prevent minor scratches when cleaning or being dropped. Our double-sided hard coating is especially useful for treating Polycarbonate, which scratches easily.
Ultra-Violet Protection
UV Protection is similar to sunscreen for your skin; it blocks the harmful UV A & B rays that can damage your eyes. Overexposure to UV rays has been known to cause eye problems, including cataracts and retinal damage. Our UV treatment is invisible to the eye, and does not change the appearance of the eyeglass lenses.
